How We Choose Offers

Effective date: October 20, 2026

Some pages on this site show offers from banks, brokers, lenders and tax software companies. This page explains how those are chosen and what we check.

Why an offer appears on a page

An offer is placed only where it relates to what the calculator is about. A TFSA calculator may show a place to open a TFSA, a savings goal tool may show a savings account, and a mortgage tool may link to a licensed mortgage brokerage. We do not place offers where they do not fit, such as a bank account on a benefits calculator.

What we look at

  • Company type: regulated Canadian banks, credit unions, registered dealers and licensed mortgage brokerages.
  • Deposit insurance: for savings and chequing accounts, whether deposits are covered by CDIC or a provincial credit union insurer.
  • Fees and rates: monthly fees, interest rate and any conditions, taken from the company's own website.
  • Bonus terms: deposit minimums, time limits and when a promotional rate ends.

Commissions and ranking

Only companies we have an affiliate agreement with can be linked with a commission. If a page lists accounts, we say whether each one pays us, and we do not rank a product higher because it pays more. Where we know of a clearly better option that does not pay us, we say so.

Dates and corrections

Rates and promotions are dated where they are shown. They can change without notice, so confirm them with the company before you apply. If you see something wrong, email admin@canadacalculator.ca and we will check and correct it.
